John Vallely

JJ turned Professional in 2000 and was based at Matfen Hall in Northumberland for 28 years prior to joining Elite Golf this summer. JJ competed for many years including 2 seasons on the PGA Euro pro Tour however in the last 15 years decided to focus on his passion for teaching. JJ is a dynamic, motivated and dedicated PGA professional with a wealth of golf knowledge and experience who strives to improve the game of all his students. He has outstanding communication skills and leaves no stone unturned to get his message across.

JJ is committed to lifelong learning and is constantly seeking to increase his knowledge of the game. He has completed various qualifications travelling extensively across Europe and America to learn from the best coaches in the world. JJ’s biggest influence has been from legendary American Hall of fame coach Jim Hardy & PGA tour coaches Chris O’Connell and Andy Traynor of Plane Truth Golf.

JJ was honoured to be awarded Plane Truth Level 3 status in 2019 as a leader in the field of golf instruction (Level 3 Inner Circle | Instruction Certification - Plane Truth Golf) JJ loves to work with players of all ages & abilities and currently teaches students from Professionals and England internationals through to beginners, aspiring juniors and club players. JJ has been an England Golf Coach since 2007. He was appointed England U18 Regional Girls coach (North) in 2012 with his remit being to develop players capable of representing England from Cumbria, Durham & Northumberland. Success has been phenomenal with JJ leading 10 girls to being capped by England as Girl/Women internationals and 5 making it into the national squads most of whom started off as high handicap players with him. His students have won numerous national titles including European Young Masters Champion, English Girls U16 Champion and English Girls U14 Champion. The North squad has been the most successful squad in terms of improvement for 7 of the last 10 years.

In 2018 JJ was awarded England Golf ‘Squad Coach of the Year’ in recognition of his impact in player development. JJ is very proud to have supported 14 girls from his squads going to College in the US on full scholarships. JJ started the North of England Players Girls squad back in 2014 to develop up and coming young girl golfers in the North of England. This was initially set up as a feeder squad for the England Regional squad to ensure the players coming through were developing the skills & mindset required to transition to the regional squad. This has proved very successful and he has now had 7 players capped for England who started in the ‘players’. As a result of this success he also now has two boys’ development squads.

JJ really enjoys working with young golfers and igniting their passion for the sport. For years he has taught and developed hundreds of junior golfers via his successful junior academy introducing young golfers to the game and supporting them on their journey. JJ will be continuing this at Northumberland Golf Club. JJ has excellent communication skills, patience and his natural enthusiasm for the game makes learning golf a lot of fun for players of all levels. In addition to this success and passion for squad coaching JJ offers excellent 1:1 coaching sessions from beginners through to elite golfers.
